This past month God has sent us several volunteers to help with the work load here at CSE. The first person that I had the opportunity to work with was Joel Newton, who was down here in Pensacola on vacation with his family. When we found out that he installed flooring for a living we asked if he could give us his opinion on a house that we were working on. After checking out the house, which is being remodeled to be used as staff housing, he asked if we wanted him to do the work while he was in town. I could not believe that he was even offering to work on his vacation, but it got even crazier when Dr. Hovind took him up on his offer.
His wife Amy and their son Myles said that it would be fine. I was amazed. Here is a family that has taken the time to drive down from Minnesota to Pensacola to visit our Creation Museum and Science Center at Dinosaur Adventure Land, and now they are going to forgo the vacation in order to work!
I got to spend a little bit of time with the family and learned that they truly have a ministry heart, and a heart for our ministry. Joel discovered the “Hovind Tapes” a couple of years ago, and now copies on average 350 Seminar #1 DVD’s per week in order to keep up with the demand from the teens and singles in his church that are passing them out and using them to minister to others. His heart for God and love for the ministry was even more apparent when I asked if I could fly him back down to do even more work over the weekend. He gladly accepted the offer to fly down and work 18 hour days for 4 days straight and not get paid. I could not believe the generosity and willingness to serve that Joel possessed. Joel, may God continue to bless you and your family.
The second person that I had the opportunity to work with was Jeff Rivest. He and his family are from Canada, and were down vacationing and camping around the US. He showed up and asked if there was anything we needed done. We were just getting ready to re-roof the house that we had been working on, and Jeff was more than willing to work on it. Jeff and a couple of the guys from our crew here at CSE began tearing off shingles on Thursday morning and worked all day long. Jeff came back again on Friday and helped put the new roof on. By Friday evening the roof was close to being done, but still needed a little bit more, so on Saturday Jeff came in and finished the roof for us. Jeff, thank you for your investment in our ministry and more importantly in Eternity.
It is amazing to watch God bring in the people that are necessary to do his work. I am forever grateful to all of you who have invested your life for eternity.
Thank you and God Bless,
Eric Hovind
