When I read the Pensacola News Journal article April 7, 06 “Park could face extinction” by William Rabb I couldn’t help but wonder, “Are these people morons or just desperate to sell papers?” The recent court ruling to close a few of our buildings over the permit issue (which has been going on for 5 years) does not close our ministry or even our Dinosaur Adventure Land. We still have lots of visitors coming every day. Remedies at Law, the managers of the ministry, are working with the courts and county to reopen the buildings and I still travel every week doing seminars on creation, our bookstore is still open, we still ship out thousands of books and videos every week, I still do my daily radio program on www.truthradio.com from 4:30-6 pm CST and souls are still being saved and lives changed. We are no where near “extinction.” They must be desperate or dense!
Another rumor is that I want to be a law unto myself and not get the county building permits. First, this is a ministry wide decision and Glen Stoll, the manager, makes those calls. I travel too much to spend much time on this. Second, the county has inspected the buildings twice, as well as two state certified engineers and two state certified electricians. The issue has never been one of safety or health. We have filled out the papers and given the county the information they requested 2 ½ years ago and never got a response, other than locking the buildings. We have repeatedly asked them what they want from us and we get no response.
Escambia County Commission Chairman Mike Whitehead did exactly what Satan did in Matthew 4:6 by quoting half a verse. At the hearing last Thursday Mr. Whitehead said “Render unto Caesar the things which are Caesar’s. And right now Caesar demands a building permit.” He does not understand the rest of the verse. Matthew 22:21 “They say unto him, Caesar’s. Then saith he unto them, Render therefore unto Caesar the things which are Caesar’s; and unto God the things that are God’s.”
The Church is not Caesar’s! We are willing to be good neighbors, let them inspect and make suggestions, we have invited them many times to do this. The only issue is control.
Before you believe and repeat things about our ministry in violation of Exodus 20:16 “Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour.” Call in to our radio program and ask any questions you want. In America you still get to face your accusers and are innocent until proven guilty. At least it is supposed to be that way.
More later, Kent Hovind
It’s sad when people misquote, or even selectively quote God’s Word. I was there when Mr. Whitehead only quoted half of the famous “Caesar” quote; something that most – if not all – secular voices are guilty of. It deeply annoys me when people are not honest (with themselves) enough to be honest with everybody else. I pray for the ministry and for God’s guidance upon the persons in charge.
Stupid secular newspapers. We have the same problem with the tabloid press over here in London, England. They thrive on gossip, romours, and scandal. Brother, I haven’t read a newspaper in quite a while and I don’t intend to if I can help it for the rest of my life. I’ll get my news from a much healthier source. “Cat falls out of a tree branch and breaks its neck” is front page potential over here. Its all cobblers Kent, all cobblers. Praying for you over here. London’ s got your back mate!
This is not a matter of who will win rather a matter of the many who will lose. The children and their families who come to play, learning and growing in their faith and knowledge of the Great Creator. Dinosaur Adventure Land, a place that God surely created to glorify Himself, a beacon of light to the city of Pensacola and the world. Sharing with each person the saving grace and mercy of Jesus Christ.
This is God’s heart, to reach out to the lost, and restore meaning value to each soul. That a loving Creator created them there lives not a product of random chance or evolution, and He has a special plan and purpose for all of us.
I wonder what Jesus would do… Jesus said in Matthew 10:13-14, “ Permit the children to come to me do not hinder them; for the Kingdom of God belongs to such as these.”
Look at what is at stake here, look with spiritual eyes the battle before you.
I believe all decisions should be made for the greater good of His Eternal Kingdom.
I pray God’s will be done.
In love, your friend and sister in Christ
Kimberly
While there may be people nearby that want Dinosaur Adventure Land far far away, you have fans far far away that wish Dinosaur Adventure Land was nearby
Guess I’ll have to start my own, one day.
What I do find interesting in the article (and I may have missed the technicalities in previous posts) is “… until the owners comply with regulations”. That makes it sound like an outstanding debt/fee can be paid, or some papers need to be signed, or there’s something small that can be done to resolve everything – though I very much doubt this is the case?
Unless by “comply with regulations” they mean for everything to be torn down, and never rebuilt, in which case they’d no longer force the (then destroyed) buildings to be closed. Great to hear they’re trying to be accomodating (excuse the sarcasm).
Kimberly: Couldn’t have agreed more with what you said, and I really pitty any person who gets in the way of a child finding Christ!
Hello. My name is Matt and I am from Traverse City, Michigan. I have been listening to Dr. Hovind for many years and spread his information around to all of my friends and family as well as local people I do not even know. I have been keeping up on the DAL problem. In my opinion, this is just a power struggle and an ego thing when it comes to the county. They just want to make the church bend knee to the mighty state and use the cash for the permits to waste in some other area of pork. My opinion. Keep up the good work Faith Baptist Fellowship and Kent Hovind. I am praying and don’t bend the knee like so many other lemmings.
In Christ,
Matt
