It amazes me how many Christians think Bro. Hovind should just pay for the permit. How many of those same Christians would pay for a permit to attend church this (and every) Sunday? How many of them would pay for a permit to read their Bible tonight (or any time)? I wonder how many of the media who have written critically about DAL would pay for a permit to write those articles? How many of us would pay for a permit to speak on the phone? How many would pay for a permit to post an item on the internet critical of Bro. Hovind? Why don’t those who oppose him have to pay for permits to do that?
You say, “Those things are Constitutional rights! We shouldn’t have to pay for a permit to practice our Constitutional rights!”
Exactly. Bro. Hovind’s ministries are protected by Constitutional provisions on religious liberty, free speech, and private property. Not only that, they are in obedience to God and we are to obey God rather than men. Teno
ill give that an amen. but you forgot, constitutional rights only apply to non religious folk, right? **hint of heavy sarcasm**
They are just announcing Bro. Hovind’s arrest (http://www.pensacolanewsjournal.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20060714/NEWS01/607140333/1006)on the Creation Research Society email list. So far I’ve seen more support than I expected there.
Here is my response to one naysayer (and he wasn’t overly critical), it’s similar to what I said above:

So? Many Old Testament prophets lost cases. Paul lost a few cases in the New Testament as well. So did Peter, so did Jesus for that matter. They got bad publicity, too. Other Christians often opposed them.
I can’t blame a guy for standing on principle. How many of us would be appalled if we had to pay for a gov’t license to post our pro-creation views here on CRSnet? Or to belong to CRS? Or if we had to pay for a permit to go to church this Sunday, or to pray and read our Bible in our own homes?
Why, we have free speech and religious liberty Those things would violate our rights and we’d be justified to stand against them, you say? That’s exactly what Hovind is standing on. If they nail him for this stuff today, they CAN (and will) nail us for posting on CRSnet, reading our Bibles, and praying in our homes and churches, tomorrow.
