County and Camp update 5-23-06

There are several possible properties in Mississippi we are looking at for a creation camp site. No definite plans yet but keep praying. One great advantage of the places we are looking at is, they have no permit or inspections department. They actually allow the church to manage its own affairs as our founding fathers intended! If we get one of these places we will need lots of money to start building ASAP.

The county battle is still going but the judge has not yet reversed his order so we are set up in tents and going on with our calling to serve God. Come visit!

First of all, I just want to say how blessed I’ve been by this ministry. This ministry is doing a great work for the Kingdom of God, and I just want to encourage you guys to keep spreading the truth. What you are accomplishing as a ministry is simply invaluable to giving people faith in God’s word.
My concern, however, is that your ministry may be getting sidetracked by this issue of building permits that may be distracting you from the more important work that needs to be done. Romans 13:1-2 says, “Let every soul be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and the authorities that exist are appointed by God. Therefore whoever resists the authority resists the ordinance of God, and those who resist will bring judgment on themselves,” and verse 7 goes on to say, “Render therefore to all their due: TAXES TO WHOM TAXES, CUSTOMS TO WHOM CUSTOMS, fear to whom fear, honor to whom honor.” Would the apostle Paul, as a Jew living in the Roman Empire, have agreed with all of the practices and even the tax policies of the Roman Empire at that time? I would sincerely doubt it, but he nonetheless exhorted us to obey our government. As long as our government does not directly require us to turn away from following Jesus, it may be best to simply submit to our government.
I agree with this ministry that, ideally, churches should not have to pay any sort of tax to the government, even if it is to merely inspect building safety, but I think that fighting this issue may be distracting this ministry from its greater calling of winning souls. Leave fighting taxes to the lawyers and politicians…
    Keep up the good work!

You could try the Indian Springs Campground in Kosciusko, MS. I believe the Assemblies of God Church owns it, it has a baseball field, log cabins, a nice swimming pool, a chapel-esque building that has a kitchen, plus has 2 separate living homes both of which I’ve been in and are nice. It’s a 5-star property IMO, but I don’t know if they would sell.

I know of 160 acres of private property for sale bordering the Sierra National Park in California. It is not a camp facility and contains only 1 small cabin, but the property is gorgeous. There are many trees, a beautiful creek, a small pond, and it’s quite secluded. I don’t know what kind of price range you’re looking at, but this is a great piece of property. My husband and I have often said it would make an awesome campground. If you’re interested, let me know. I know the owner and could put you in touch with him. We sure could use something like a creation/dino camp out here in California!

Hope it works out for you! Just saw some of your seminar tapes for the first time and was surprised how much sense your position made (though I still don’t agree with everything.) I think more people should get to hear & see for themselves what the alternatives are to
what they’ve been told all their lives.

    Hello Dr. Hovind,
Concerning your search for a new Dino Land adventure park. I suggest an area in Patrick County Va. There is a Christian Camp called the Springs of life camp and adjacent to it is a 70 acre tract of land. How much land do you need? I may be able to get some of it donated. So you might be able to move in Free. it has a panoramic view of the Blue Ridge Mountains. The land is very accessable from the highway yet neatly tucked away in pristine scenery and quiet. Let me know. Astrid Cole 694-4257

    Kent,

I believe that God will open a door for you to do a camp and get the land that you need. I would also like to recommend Outreach America at http://www.outreachamerica.org/ , which is based in Greensboro, NC. They already have a camp that they use and I would love to see you do a creation camp here in North Carolina.

Come on to Mississippi! I live in Jackson, and am able and willing to help you find a place for the camp. A good realty website is http://www.garysmith.com, and a good realtor (a Christian man who works for them) is Vernon Boatman. The prices are good around here. I know of 80 acres right around the corner from me for $160,000.00. 90 percent of it floods when it rains, so you’d have to haul in some dirt. Of course, there are all kinds of good locations for real good prices that wouldn’t require all that extra work. (I’d just like the camp close to me!) Let me know if I can help. There are certain areas surrounding Jackson where the political situation is very favorable to your ministry.
