This is a ministry founded eighteen years ago and mentored into its current form by Dr. Hovind. Kent and Jo have been used of our Lord to make this pivotal creation ministry what it is today, giving their entire lives, and home to spreading the Gospel and the truths of creation. As you know, Dr. Hovind has been on the road over half of the year most years.
But as this is written Kent E. Hovind is sitting in jail. We do not know the Lord’s purpose in this, but we know that our Lord is in charge.
Yesterday a federal court decided that Dr. Hovind was guilty of non-withholding of taxes. This is being appealed. Jo Hovind was also charged and convicted in the same trial as the signer of checks. She was freed on bond and was able to come back home last night. Sentencing for both Kent and Jo Hovind is scheduled for January 19, 2007.
Some of the greatest persons in history have suffered time in prison. We are in shock, but we know that our Creator can use even the worst of events towards His Kingdom’s glory. We at CSE request your fervent prayers.
Romans 8:28 “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to [his] purpose.”

I want to point out, that Mr. Hovind was convicted for withdrawing $9,000 from a bank on several occassions. There is some law that all withdrawls over 10,000 must be reported to the government. Very Scarry law. Do all the movie stars do that? How about NBA stars?
The government said he was taking out only $9,500 each time to avoid this law. Hey, he never broke the law. Again, very scary. It is like being pulled over for driving 58 miles per hour in a 60 mph zone. The cop says, you were going to speed, maybe becuase you have driven 58 mph before. But, you say- I never broke the law.
We are in the last of the last days. If you want really good information on the New World order, check out Prison Planet.com, with Alex Jones.
Also, the big main denominations today are in a state of Apostacy. Paul warns us that ther will be a falling away, before the return of the Lord and we are getting there. Churches are condoning gay marriage, sin is rampant in the congregations, female preachers, ignoring scripture, false bible versions- the list goes on and on.
But, there is a God, a mighty God, who will return to judge the world, and judgement will begin at the house of God. Our government is corrupt and we are heading towards a fascist dictatorship. Please watch some of the Alex Jones video’s or Texes Marrs. I don’t agree with everything, but most of it is dead on.
Mr. Hovind was going to be brought down, because he spoke the truth. If he did knowingly break laws, I can not judge a brother. He will have to answer to God. But, if you go out and preach Jesus today, if you preach straight from the bible- you will be arrested or condemned. Our public scools are government indoctrination camps, we are passing security and military legislation designed to take away our bill of rights.
We must be patient, because the Lord is coming back. We must be patient through persecution and trials. He who endures until the end will be saved.
God Bless,
AlainaJ
Our family is praying for Dr. and Mrs. Hovind, as well as each of you in the ministry. May Yahweh’s will be done, and may His glory triumph. We greatly appreciate your ministry. Yours was one of several creation science ministries that was a catalyst for our family to learn as much as we could about the Living Word, not watered down by our culture.
Although we don’t know for what reason the Lord has allowed this to occur, we know that it is for His good. May the Lord continue to bless CSE and all people associated with them, and may many more come to know Christ and the truth of creation through Mr Hovind’s inspired messages.
The Hovind’s and all associated with CSE will continue to be in our prayers – please let us know if there is anything else we can do.
Sincerely,
Amy & Sean Morton

The above link shows a listing of Escambia County Corrections Jail as of the 7th of Nov with Mr. Hovind on it… does that mean he is in Escambia County Jail? I’m not too familiar with US corrections… thought it may help someone?
Dear Doc,
Praise the Lord!! You will now have opportunities to reach people that you may not have been able to before. We know that God will use you to do a mighty work wherever you are. Don’t lose hope, just trust God to know what he’s doing. We serve a mighty God who has all power to do whatever he chooses. We also know that every single person will have to give an account of himself to God. You have been a faithful servant and you will continue to be. You have (and continue to) reached more people with your uncopywrited videos, than most Christians will in their entire lifetime. What an inspiration and encouragement you have been to those that are open to the truth! By God’s grace, continue your work for the Lord. Here are some scriptures that we hope will encourage you and your family:

I have always heard, “A word to the wise is sufficent.”
Clearly, Kent Hovind was not wise. He was clearly warned that he would go to prison if he did not pay his taxes. He didn’t pay his taxes. He is headed for prison.
I do not bring in nearly as much money as Kent Hovind, but I still have enough to live on after I pay my taxes. Kent Hovind could have paid his taxes like everybody else, and still be a millionaire. A little more wisdom and a little less greed could have prevented this senseless tragedy that causes our enemies to laugh at the cause of Christ!
Someone asked “Why was no defense evidence provided?” I am in California with no “inside view” to this trial. But I have followed IRS cases for years. I know the common pattern is that the IRS attorney lets the judge know that crucial evidence must not be presented to the jury. The judge complies out of fear, and the defense attorney responds cooperatively, wanting to keep his BAR membership.
Here is the crime: Dr. Hovind believes what he reads. He believes what he reads in the Bible, and he believes what he reads in the U.S. Constitution. Don’t you? You had BETTER STOP. The Constitution was written centuries after two doctrines of interpretation were long in place. One is the “doctrine of original intent.” That one says, “stick with what the writers wrote.” The other doctrine is called “precedence” (stare decisis). This doctrine says that law-as-written cannot be trusted until the parties research how judges have interpreted that law.
Dr. Hovind is correct in believing Genesis 1:1, but the First Amendment of the US Constitution cannot be trusted. It has been destroyed in all of its original meaning by Federal Judges. If only the Founders had written, “the words of this constitution shall be applied on a case by case basis in harmony with our original intent, with no regard for judicial opinions,” we would not be in this mess.
Because we are in this mess, the person wishing to live in peace should obey while shouting “[--edited out--]” right in the IRS’s face. Meanwhile, let’s all work to establish the doctrine of original intent.
take heart brother hovind for you are truly doing God,s work.To all interested I encourage everyone to see the documentary by Aaron Russo entitled, America:Freedom to Fasicm. This powerful documentary clearly shows through Supreme Court rulings that the Federal income tax is a fraud. The 16th admendment was never ratified.Brother Hovind and others shown in the documentary do not have to pay a federal tax,it is voluntary. The government cannot show you the law which states you must pay because there is no law.All monies collected by the Federal income tax goes directly to the Federal reserve[private bankers]it does not go to the US government.Brother hovind take courage and keep fighting the good fight, the truth will prevail and you will be set free fron those who want to control the world….God bless
Dear Dr. Hovind,
I want you to know that my family and I love you, your family and your ministry. We are praying that God be glorified from this situation. I thank God for using you and your ministry in our lives and in this planet Earth. With the help of our God, we will continue to progress your ministry everywhere.
God bless you, your family and ministry

I don’t understand how so many of you can so blindly support what Mr. Hovind has done. Jesus was pretty clear when he said, “Render unto Caesar what is Caesar’s” (paraphrase from Matt 22:21, Mark 12:17, and Luke 20:25). What he did was wrong, plain and simple.
Does that warrant 200+ years in prison? No. Has he done good work for the kingdom of God? Yes.
Absolutely pray for this man, his family, and the ministries that he helped put into place.
I have done much research and reading about the origin and history of the irs and federal reserve. Good sources are The Creature from Jekyl Island by Edward Griffith ,
Theft by Deception by Larkin Rose , and the movie American freedom to facism that can be seen on google video here http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-4312730277175242198 by director Aaron Russo Also understanding the constitution itself is a great value
But what does the Lord Jesus christ have to say about this?
( the devil seems to forget the details and only uses 1 point and not all that is said)
Mat 17:24 And when they were come to Capernaum, they that received tribute money came to Peter, and said, Doth not your master pay tribute?
Mat 17:25 He saith, Yes. And when he was come into the house, Jesus prevented him, saying, What thinkest thou, Simon? of whom do the kings of the earth take custom or tribute? of their own children, or of strangers?
Mat 17:26 Peter saith unto him, Of strangers. Jesus saith unto him, Then are the children free.
Mat 17:27 Notwithstanding, lest we should offend them, go thou to the sea, and cast a hook, and take up the fish that first cometh up; and when thou hast opened his mouth, thou shalt find a piece of money: that take, and give unto them for me and thee.
I disagree praisingfool, a lot of people including myself don’t believe Dr. Hovind did anything wrong. You can’t say we are blindly supporting it just because you disagree, this is not blind support.
Here are the full verses:
Matthew 22:21 – They say unto him, Caesar’s. Then saith he unto them, Render therefore unto Caesar the things which are Caesar’s; and unto God the things that are God’s.
Mark 12:17 – And Jesus answering said unto them, Render to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s, and to God the things that are God’s. And they marvelled at him.
Luke 20:25 – And he said unto them, Render therefore unto Caesar the things which be Caesar’s, and unto God the things which be God’s.
His position has been all along that the church is not Caesar’s and is excepted from taxes, and I and many others here agree with this position. He stood up and was willing to be imprisoned for what he believes in and I admire that in anyone. I know he will probably be there a long time but I also know that he will continue to witness for God no matter where he is. I really do think this ruling was wrong and will be praying for Dr. Hovind, his family and the ministry.
In the book of Genesis Joesph was in prison because he was accused of fornicateing with
his masters wife, but the truth of the matter was he was put in jail because he refused to fornicate with his masters adulterous wife. She lusted after Joesph and Joesph is loyal to his master. she was the one who gave false witness accusing Joesph
by the way Joesphs name given by pharoah is?
To AlainaJ:
I’m amazed at the lack of knowledge of the case by the folks posting here. For the record, 44 of the 58 charges of which Kent and Jo were convicted were of a specific crime known as “structuring”. This is willfully making cash bank transactions in such a way as to avoid triggering the bank’s requirement to report cash transactions over $10,000. There is a specific law which the Hovinds violated. And it wasn’t just a few transactions — it was at least 44, in some cases multiple withdrawals a day to avoid the $10,000. limit.
Note that, as far as I know, the Hovind’s offered no defense to these charges. Their “I didn’t know I owed any taxes” stance clearly didn’t apply here. In fact, “structuring” implies knowledge of the bank’s reporting requirements.

The phrase, “Render unto Caesar what is Caesar’s” is probably the one of the most misinterpreted phrase in the New Testament. Most people read this and think that Jesus is saying, “Give Caesar your money and give God your soul. ” In this article, I’ll attempt to show you that the above interpretation of Jesus’ statement is not a correct interpretation and that Jesus was actually saying that is was not lawful (at that time and place) to give Caesar anything. Let us look at this scripture more closely. Pay close attention to each verse.
Matthew 22:15-22
Then went the Pharisees, and took counsel how they might entangle him in his talk. And they sent out unto him their disciples with the Herodians, saying, Master, we know that thou art true, and teachest the way of God in truth, neither carest thou for any man: for thou regardest not the person of men. Tell us therefore, What thinkest thou? Is it lawful to give tribute unto Caesar, or not? But Jesus perceived their wickedness, and said, Why tempt ye me, ye hypocrites? Show me the tribute money. And they brought unto him a penny. And he saith unto them, Whose is this image and superscription? They say unto him, Caesar’s. Then saith he unto them, Render therefore unto Caesar the things which are Caesar’s; and unto God the things that are God’s. When they had heard these words, they marvelled, and left him, and went their way.
Luke 20:19-26
And the chief priests and the scribes the same hour sought to lay hands on him; and they feared the people: for they perceived that he had spoken this parable against them. And they watched him, and sent forth spies, which should feign themselves just men, that they might take hold of his words, that so they might deliver him unto the power and authority of the governor. And they asked him, saying, Master, we know that thou sayest and teachest rightly, neither acceptest thou the person of any, but teachest the way of God truly: Is it lawful for us to give tribute unto Caesar, or no? But he perceived their craftiness, and said unto them, Why tempt ye me? Show me a penny. Whose image and superscription hath it? They answered and said, Caesar’s. And he said unto them, Render therefore unto Caesar the things which be Caesar’s, and unto God the things which be God’s. And they could not take hold of his words before the people: and they marvelled at his answer, and held their peace.
Things to think about
1. The Pharisees knew the law. They knew that Jesus knew the law. Why did they think that they could have Jesus arrested, by His answer, if it was [Biblically] lawful to pay taxes to Caesar?
2. If Jesus said, “Yes, Give Caesar your money…” and nobody “laid hands” on Him, nor did the crowd leave Him, then that wasn’t a very good trap they set for Him.
3. And why did they marvel at this answer? Why did they hold their peace? (Whatever Jesus said to them was more of a shocker than “Yes, Give Caesar your money and God your soul.”)
Other Things to Keep in Mind
1. The Pharisees asked Jesus, “Is it lawful to give tribute unto Caesar”. This statement clearly shows us that just because a government “passes laws” does not make these laws “lawful”.
2. “And they began to accuse him, saying, We found this fellow perverting the nation, and forbidding to give tribute to Caesar, saying that he himself is Christ a King.” [Luke 23:2]
3. When Jesus spoke in front of mixed company (with sinners), he did not speak so that everyone could understand. [Matthew 13:10-17]
“All these things spake Jesus unto the multitude in parables; and without a parable spake he not unto them:” [Matthew 13:34] (It does not get any more clear than that. When Jesus said “Render unto Caesar…” He was speaking in a parable!)
4. Government tax collectors are always mentioned in context of sinners.
*And the tax collector, standing afar off, would not so much as raise his eyes to heaven, but beat his breast, saying, “God, be merciful to me a sinner!” [Luke 18:13 NKJV].
*…Jesus said to them, “Assuredly, I say to you that tax collectors and harlots enter the kingdom of God before you.” [Matthew 21:31 NKJV]
*”Then all the tax collectors and the sinners drew near to Him to hear Him. [Luke 15:1 NKJV]
*And if he refuses to hear them, tell it to the church. But if he refuses even to hear the church, let him be to you like a heathen and a tax collector. [Matthew 18:7 NKJV]
(Also see Matthew 5:46-47, 9:11, 11:19, 21:32, Mark 2:15-16, Luke 5:30, 7:34)
The Setting
Two thousand years ago, Israel and many other countries, were under Roman control. The Jews that followed Jesus did not like being an occupied people. They did not like the idea that Caesar made claim of ownership of all land, people, and even their holy buildings. They did not like the idea of paying tribute to an occupying country.
The Romans allowed the Jews to continue using their currency to trade, but they had to pay taxes to the Roman Empire using Roman coins.
They knew that only God can make laws and that the Israelite kings could only administer God’s Law without adding to it, nor taking away from it.
They knew that all things in heaven and in earth belong to God.
“Indeed heaven and the highest heavens belong to the LORD your God, also the earth with all that is in it.” (Deuteronomy 10:14 NKJV).
The Trap
Obviously, when you set a trap for someone, you don’t want to give that person an easy way out. When the Pharisees “took counsel how they might entangle him in his talk” so they might “lay hands on him”, they knew if Jesus said that it is not lawful, that the Roman soldiers would arrest Jesus, and throw Him in prison. If he said, “Yes, it is lawful to pay tribute to Caesar”, then the Jews would know that he was not the Messiah and at least leave him, or maybe even stone him. The Pharisees knew the law better than most anyone in those days. They already knew the correct answer, before they asked. They knew that Jesus and his followers knew the correct answer. They knew that Jesus would tell his followers that it was not lawful to pay tribute to Caesar. Again, the reason they asked the question is not to learn the answer. The reason they asked the question was so they could “deliver him unto the power and authority of the governor” (What is more logical? Jesus getting arrested for teaching people to pay taxes, or for teaching people NOT to pay taxes?)
Jesus Answers the Pharisees
“And he said unto them, Render therefore unto Caesar the things which be Caesar’s, and unto God the things which be God’s. And they could not take hold of his words before the people: and they marvelled at his answer, and held their peace.”
Notice that Jesus did not define what belonged to Caesar. He did not say that the coin in question belonged to Caesar. He also did not define what belonged to God. He didn’t need to. That was defined many times in the Old Testament. (The Pharisees and His followers knew the Old Testament. The Roman soldiers did not.) “Indeed heaven and the highest heavens belong to the LORD your God, also the earth with all that is in it.” (Deuteronomy 10:14 NKJV). “The earth is the LORD’s, and the fulness thereof; the world, and they that dwell therein.” [Psalm 24:1]. That leaves nothing left for Caesar. Also, Haggai 2:8 states “The silver is mine, and the gold is mine, saith the LORD of hosts.” [The coin mentioned in this verse was the denaruis (silver)]
Why the Pharisees Marveled at His Answer, and held their Peace.
Remember, the Pharisees “took counsel how they might entangle him in his talk” so they might “lay hands on him”. They thought they had a real good trap. They did not think it was even possible to get out of it. If Jesus said, “Yes”, his followers would at least leave him. If He said, “No”, the Roman soldiers would take him. Then Jesus answered the Pharisees in a nature that was typical of Jesus. His answer was so clear to everyone that knew the Old Testament (the Jews) but, just as it is not clear to many people today, it was not clear enough to the Roman soldiers for them to arrest Him. (Jesus was not afraid of getting arrested, but He was not going to let Satan decide on when and where.)
After Jesus basically told the people that Caesar should get nothing, His followers probably cheered. His followers probably increased in number after that statement. The Pharisees were in awe, because they thought they had Jesus in their “check-mate trap”, but Jesus came out of the trap unharmed and with the Pharisees’ queen. After seeing that their wits are no match for Jesus’ in this game, they “tipped over their king” and held their peace.
The Superscription on the “Penny”
The Roman coin in the above verses, had, on the front, a graven image of Tiberius Caesar and read, “Tiberius Caesar Augustus, son of the Divine Augustus” and the other side would read, “Pontius Maximus” which means “High Priest” or “Chief Priest”. After knowing this, I believe that it is very questionable that Jesus would even possess such a coin. Maybe that is why He called them hypocrites and then asked to see a penny. It is possible that He did this for at least two reasons. One, is that it he did not have a Roman coin on him. And the second reason was to expose their hypocrisy and validate his accusation. In no other verse in the Bible did Jesus accuse someone of being a hypocrite without showing them the reason for His accusation. (Matthew 7:5; 15:7-9; 16:3-4; 23:13, 14, 15, 23, 25, 27-28, 29; Mark 7:6-9: Luke 6:42; 12:56; 13:15;) When they produced the coin, it showed everyone the reason for Jesus’ accusation.
One More Thing to Think About
If Jesus was alive today and living in Canada, where babies are killed (abortions) with tax money, which of the two sentences below sounds more like what Jesus would say:
1. “I am going to pay the tax (help kill the babies), but I am going to write my Congressman and tell him that I don’t like this one bit.”
2. “You will have to kill me, before I will help fund the killing of babies!”
If you picked number 2, great. Now, using that same logic, would Jesus have helped fund the expansion of the Roman Empire that currently occupied [by force] the land God gave to His people?
So, should we pay taxes to our King? The answer is “Yes”. We should pay taxes to whom we pledge our allegiance to. The question is, “Who do you pledge your allegiance to and what Kingdom do you claim your citizenship?”
Perhaps this may help those who do not understand Dr. Hovind’s position (praisingfool, et. al.):
Constitutionally speaking, we are not obligated to pay income taxes. This point can be factually verified through a very brief look into the past history of America and the immediate times leading to the implementation of the income tax.
Hence, the income tax laws that we now have are unconstitutional. Said another way, they are not LEGAL in the sense in which the founding fathers of this nation originally drafted the Constitution. I understand that our leaders have passed the income tax laws into LAW (arguably, they did it without due regard to the Constitution itself). But, what I believe Dr. Hovind is expressing, and I could be wrong, is that our “Final Authority” in America, God not withstanding, is THE CONSTITUTION… hence, the reason our leaders in this country all take oaths to uphold the Constitution. Therefore, it would logically follow that Dr. Hovind sees himself as obeying “…the higher powers…” ala Romans 13, Matthew 22:21, Mark 12:17, Luke 20:25, et.al.).
I hope this makes sense. In my view, the bottom line is not one of Dr. Hovind supporting any type of criminal activity, Biblically, that is sort of an oxymoron
The true question here is who, or what, is our “…higher powers…”. My view, and I believe Dr. Hovind’s view, is that we are to obey the Constitution. Yes we are to obey those in authority over us, but our founding fathers of this nation recognized our sinful nature and our inability to consistently govern ourselves by God’s standard, so they came up with a “document” (the Constitution) to safeguard the people from such corruption.
I hope this all makes sense. God bless.
The work will continue, just the faces/names will change.
God has used you greatly Kent and Jo to spread the gospel and set souls free.
I will be praying for your whole family through this time and I look forward to meeting you at the finish line.
In Christ,

Can’t you feel that there is something
That is burning up inside
I don’t know what it means
But there’s something that I ain’t tried
It feels like me against the nations
And it’s something I can’t hide
I don’t care if you believe me
‘Cause it’s burning me alive
I tell you
Nothing comes that easy
Nothing comes for free
Something comes from nothing
If you’re willing to believe
Everything has meaning
Everything we see
Are you willing
To give up everything
You don’t need a revelation
To open up your mind
Break down all your reasons
Leave them all behind
‘Cause it takes faith for moving mountains
And strength to walk the line
Your apology accepted
And there’s nothing you can hide
Believe me
Time will tell
Hovind’s lawyers wre given the opportunity to present a defense, but did not.The claim the IRS attorney puts fear into the judge and the defense attorney is ludriciuos. If Hovind was truly innocent, then the defense should do their job. Also, note there was a jury of 12 that convicted the Hovinds in three hours. Was there a conspiracy against the jurors too?
If people want to change law of the first amendment how far should it go. Should mormons be allowed to have polygamy? There are limits on this and Hovind broke it by not following the law, including God’s.
I fell in love with Kent and his teachings the moment I got his dvds last year. Now that this has happened, it has fueled my curiosity as to know the truth about our government. Thanks to the people who have shared info on America: Freedom to Fascism and TerrorStorm. I am looking at that Waco movie posted above now. Also I am reading up on 501(c)(3) to try and understand exactly what the courts have convicted him of.
If Kent going to jail encourages people to know the truth about our world, then let many of us go to jail so that many may know the truth.
Jeremy
Let’s go back in time. Just because Jesus saw a piece of money with “Caesar” on it doesn’t mean he meant to render to Caesar some tax. Let’s say “Rendering unto Caesar” wasn’t money, but your children were required to undergo years of evolutionary training before they turned 18 – all supplied by the state of course. Would you comply? Most do. Lets say Russian Christians were to render unto Caesar by denying their faith. Some didn’t comply and spent 18 years in prison. Let’s say rendering unto Caesar in Hitler’s day meant turning over Jews for death. Would you comply? Most did. I think the application of Hitler applies real well here, and Kent uses it it his seminars – “If you tell a lie long enough and loud enough you’ll believe it.” The income tax has been a lie told loud enough and long enough that everyone believes it.
This event is just one small scene in the spirit of antichrist that is overcoming this nation. It will not end well for the unsaved, but they will “render unto antichrist” their loyalty to buy or sell with a mark on their body. Some will not comply and be converted. Some will “render unto God” their allegience of faith and trust. Kent Hovind today may have to endure his seven years of tribulation, but at least he will not have to endure the sequence of horrors that the world will. Be convinced that Christ wants us to render onto Him the glory of creation that he deserves. He will get that glory even if you don’t want to comply.
praisingfool: the argument is that federal income taxes are not caesar’s, and that there is no law requiring you to pay them. Watch the documentary Freedom to Fascism for more information. It sounds like a ridiculous assertion until you learn more about it.
Can someone please help inform me? I have been greatly encouraged by brother Hovind’s ministry over the years along with my family. However I do not understand what Dr. Hovind has done differently with his staff re: taxes then Answers in Genesis, or ICR (Institute for Creation Research)which to my knowledge have not had the same IRS trouble. I am a computer analyst from Toronto Canada and not a tax specialist so please explain in laymen terms. Kent Hovind says he has paid his taxes according to the law. Soooo, I am wondering what particular taxes does he pay which do not add up to what a ministry like AIG would pay. I have read a lot of heated comments going back and forth which do not seem to comment on this. I can only pray if he has erred that he will see he wrong and confess it and if innocent, the Lord will strengthen him to go through this thing. I just can’t see how someone so intelligent would let himself get caught in a mess like this knowingly unless he was one of the most stubborn men in the world. If he was guilty, he must have seen this coming. He just doesn’t seem to be the kind of person who would throw the CSE creation ministry down the toilet for the sake of spite toward the IRS. SOMEONE ENLIGHTEN ME PLEASE!!! Thank you. Appreciatively. Edward S.
Has he done good work for the kingdom of God? Yes? Are you sure?
How can you so blindly accept the scientific assertions of a non-scientist whose opinions on almost every other subject lie at the very limits of sanity. Doc Hovind is prepared to believe just about any crackpot conspiracy theory! I would urge all of you to, when considering his so-called evidence for Creation, get a second opinion. Just because he is saying the things you want to hear does not mean any of it is true. The majority of the mainstream Creationist organizations have disowned Hovind because of his refusal to distance himself from blatantly false claims.
Firstly, thank you for hearing me. It’s the lion’s den in here, and I feel it. It isn’t my intention to swan on in and insult you simply because you support Kent Hovind. Indeed, fathoming why anyone can possibly defend the indefensible is quite beyond me. No, I speak here as a Christian, in good standing in my Church, and who works at a Christian School, to try and speak some sense about Hovind from a perspective a little more objective than your own.
I’ll address a couple of specific claims first:
1. I draw the comparison between Haggart and Hovind as they are both men who, through their sin, have now caused the Church great harm. They have caused the message of Jesus to be scorned among many who otherwise may have heard and accepted the Gospel. My comparison did not accuse Hovind of sexual immorality, but I do accuse Haggart and Hovind alike of glaring, shameful hypocrisy. I reject your assertion that simply because he is sincere, friendly or even monogamous that he has therefore strengthened the Body of Christ. His ministry is based on scientific mistruths. Because he knows this, they become lies. Any ministry based on lies cannot strengthen the Body of Christ.
And by the Church, I mean the broad Christian Church that exists outside the US as well as within- not just the surreal, militant, credulous, “Jesus Camp” style Christianity prevalent in the US. Young Earth Creationism has its cradle and its aphelion in America. Sure, there are young earth creationists outside the U.S., but such pockets are merely offshoots of the mutant strain birthed in your neck of the woods. In most places (only most, I concede), Kent Hovind’s brand of evangelism and science is comedic and embarassing.
2. You don’t know the full story about Mr Hovind’s disputes with other YEC organisations. From a local perspective, the Australian Answers in Genesis entity has split, bitterly and publicly with it’s daughter organisation, AiG in the U.S. over this very issue. They no longer even share the same name, so acrimonious is the feeling between Ken Ham’s AiG and what the Australians now call “Creation Ministries International”. Part of the reason for the split was the U.S. AiG’s unwillingness to show integrity and keep several articles on their website which attack Hovind and his shoddy methods. The Australian Creationists at least see Hovind as a dangerous, loose cannon. Further details at:
http://home.austarnet.com.au/stear/AiG_cow.htm
http://home.austarnet.com.au/stear/aig_integrity_slipping.htm
http://home.austarnet.com.au/stear/hovind_response_from_aig.htm
http://home.austarnet.com.au/stear/kent_hovind_page.htm
I claim that major denominations and figures disown Hovind because the simple fact is that major Christian denominations such as Anglicanism, Catholicism and Episcopalianism reject Young Earth Creationism as poor science and poor theology. The non-denominational Christian School at which I work rejects Young Earth Creationism completely, and we regard the travails of your various U.S. boards of Education with bafflement. Even prominent Assemblies of God pastors in my own nation disown Creationism (see my blog: http://baliset.blogspot.com). Their emphatic rejection of Hovind is implicit since they reject Young Earth Creationism, and Hovind pushes a particularly egregious and damaging form of Creationism that even other Creationists disown.
3. I indeed enclose Mr Hovind’s “Dr” in quotes because his Doctorate is indeed fraudulent. Grammatically, quote marks are legitimately used for irony as well as to enclose direct quotations. Keep in mind that Hovind has tried to push his scientific arguments as central to his authority, and thus his “scientific” credentials as well.
http://home.austarnet.com.au/stear/bartelt_dissertation_on_hovind_thesis.htm
http://www.kent-hovind.com/doctor/index.htm
4. Hovind was not on a campaign of civil disobedience. To portray his actions in this way is dishonest rationalisation. To answer Selena, I am well versed in the history of your nation, including the Boston Tea Party and this is nothing like that. I dispute you when you say that Australia has no such noble men in its past. Australia has matured as a nation without going to war against itself or against our parent. If we were to anthropomophise our two nations, the U.S is the prodigal son. Australia is the dutiful son who never rebelled. God loves both. Oh, and you say Australia pays the highest taxes? Dead wrong. Australia has the the 5th lowest tax as a percentage of GDP of all OECD nations, plus no public debt and economic growth which is the envy of the world. You know what Google is. Use it before making easily disproven claims.
But I digress. Hovind broke the law of the United States, and he did so not through ignorance but as a calculated scheme to avoid his legitimate tax obligations. He was convicted in a criminal court and is now a criminal, awaiting sentencing. He committted theft from the Public Good and the only people who profited from the criminal scheme were the Hovinds. By all means “support” the family and pray for them but I see very little reflection on Hovind’s obvious culpability. All you people who are so effusive in your praise of Hovind are very, very credulous, and that scares me because the U.S is a Great Nation who can put men on the moon. You deserve better.
I gain no satisfaction from seeing a Brother in Christ fall. Not with Haggart, and not with Hovind. However, Hovind had been warned by wise Christians for years that his message was wrong and he ignored it. I don’t think there’s a holy comeback trail for Kent Hovind. He’s going to jail, and probably for years and years. He deserves it, because that’s the law, not because I am a vengeful person you can direct your frustration at for Hovind’s fate.
Lastly, thanks for all the new traffic to my blog. I love it. Keep on coming!
It is amazing to see that Dr Hovind could be sentenced to more time than a serial rapist! Or a murderer! This was not a violent crime, or a crime against another person. Even if he did commit a crime (which I don’t believe he did), it would be a victimless crime; a crime against orgainized banksters. He obeyed the laws as they are written and they still convict him. This should put all of us on notice that we have an out of control system who will convict any of us of anything if we get in their way. And it is bankster criminals that are in control of our country.
Off the soapbox now. Enough of that.
Dr Hovind and Family,
You all are in our prayers. We love you and miss you. Please let us know what more we can do for you. I know that God will carry you and your family through this. And we will carry you to Him in prayer.
Num 6:24 The LORD bless thee, and keep thee:
Num 6:25 The LORD make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee:
Num 6:26 The LORD lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace.
We will keep spreading the Word.
lbs
Baliset – thank you. It’s kind of sad that a non-US citizen had to take the time to explain all of that to everyone.
Regardless of what you choose to believe, Kent Hovind broke the law. He was warned repeatedly that he would face prison if he didn’t change his ways.
Nothing he did was God honoring. There’s absolutely no way you can try and spin it otherwise.
Baliset, I know you are a thoughtful individual who is going to heaven, and I know you sincerely want things that are good for the body of Christ. However, you accuse Hovind of scientific “mistruths” when he says what you believe is also a lie? In this case, I’m going with Hovind, and AIG/ICR for that manner, because it is the plain reading of scripture. He may have broke a law (but which law, I still haven’t heard what statue, clause etc… that he broke), but if the law was unjust, he is not biblically mandated to follow that law. In know way is the Haggart situation remotely close to the Hovind situation, because Haggart violated a clear biblical mandate, while Hovind was fighting a political battle. In the case of Catholicism, Anglicanism etc…this comprimising view is a recent devlopment in history, the true historical Christian view can be found in Sarfati’s book “Refuting Comprimise” where he traces, Luther, Calvin, and numerous Catholic/Orthodox Church fathers as YEC’s, the Old Earth view is a minority by a long shot.
>>
The “church” is exempt from taxes, the employees of the church are not.
Hovind was convicted for not withholding the taxes or reporting the income of his employees. For those of you that claim that the IRS/Income taxes are unlawful, the withholdings also include funds for social security, Medicare and unemployment insurance. The last of which I hope does not become a factor for anyone working at CSE.
>>
I’m not sure what “orgainized banksters” are, but there are many victims to his crime. Whether Palmquest et al. think the income tax is constitutional or not, there is not a person living in the US today that does not directly or indirectly benefit from some tax supported program.
And if CSE is forced to close there will be NO unemployment benefits available to the employees while they are out looking for new jobs. Victimless?
As for the length of his sentence, even the US Attorneys estimate that it will be less than 4 years. I could be wrong, but that is less than most serial rapist and murders.
>>
No, actually, he didn’t, that is why the jury convicted him.
JohnLake
Even if there was a law requiring individuals to pay income taxes, the first amendment plainly states:
“Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof…” So, the mythical income tax law (not a code) could not be constitutionally imposed on a evangelic ministry.
Obviously, the Hovinds have been railroaded by a corrupt court.
No man is safe when freedom fails
And good men rot in filthy jails
And those who cry, “appease, appease”
Are hanged by those they tried to please
God bless Kent Hovind, his wife Jo, and their family.
supere3 said this:
“I am wondering what particular taxes does he pay which do not add up to what a ministry like AIG would pay. SOMEONE ENLIGHTEN ME PLEASE!!!”
On his radio show, I’ve heard Kent Hovind say that you should pay taxes you owe and don’t pay taxes that you don’t owe. He paid lots of taxes, just not the unconstitutional income tax. I don’t know what taxes Answers In Genesis pay, but Kent Hovind knew that there is not a law requiring him to pay the income tax or withhold it from his ministry workers. Someone posted a link to the film “America: Freedom to Fascism”. Watch it and read the first amendment to the US Constitution and you will understand. Edward Griffin has also done a great job exposing this fraud. Search his name on the net and you’ll find his book and free lecture titled, “The Creature From Jekyll Island”.
With the murder of baby in America every 20 seconds, our homosexual supporting government if far from Godly. Will you folks who take “render unto Caesar” out of context continue to do so in order to have an excuse to obey the anti-Christ’s government? Besides, in America, our government is supposed to be subservient to the people. In America, the people are the king.
May God continue using Kent Hovind to lead lost souls to Jesus and strengthen the faith of Christians, even if it is from behind bars.
To Baliset,
Sir, after reading your lengthy comment on Dr. Hovind and his ministry it is clear that you are not a born-again believer. You are religious. To understand creation as taught in the bible you need to have a personal relationship with God (not religion). A real christian is set apart from the “world” and thus is hated by the “world”. This includes all the religious people who think they are christian.
you said,
“I claim that major denominations and figures disown Hovind because the simple fact is that major Christian denominations such as Anglicanism, Catholicism and Episcopalianism reject Young Earth Creationism as poor science and poor theology.”
fyi – Catholics are not christians. They are a cult. The Anglican church is so “lukewarm” that God does not dwell there anymore, and the Episcopalian Church is in lockstep with the Catholics. I expect them to believe contrary to the bible.
My question for you is: Are you living for God? Is there hidden sin in your life? It does not matter if you are in good standing with your church. Are you in good standing with God? Living clean? Are you winning souls to Christ? There are multitudes of church going folks who are on their way to hell because all they have is religion.
Baliset:
Your last sentence sums it up: “Lastly, thanks for all the new traffic to my blog. I love it. Keep on coming!”.
You have your reward in full.
A Hovind quote comes in mind when I think about Kent Hovind in jail:
Finding an unsaved person to witness to in prison “is like shooting fish in a barrel…you just can’t miss”.
To my fellow Pro/anti Hovind bloggers,
I remember watching old scratchy Hovind tapes 13 years ago and using that information to share Creation and the saving message of Our Lord Jesus Christ to several people in my anthropology class. Those students were all eager to hear the truth amidst the lies of evolution. My teacher, who even claimed to be a “white witch”, flagged me down after class and asked me to tell her more about Creation.
I have consistently won over non-beleivers, and made those who arrogantly opposed God’s truth look foolish with the use of Dr. Hovind’s research. I have looked up all his facts before presenting them to others and I have never been let down by Dr. Hovind. I am convinced God uses him in a mighty way and I have seen the fruits of his labor blossom in my small corner of the world. Regardless of whether Dr. Hovind is right or wrong, he has obediently and selflessly sought to win this world for God more than I have seen from anyone else in this generation.
God will not be mocked. If the people responsible have made the slightest false accusation or “stretched” the common use of a criminal statute to be used against Dr. Hovind, then I am certain God will deal with them swiftly. In the mean time, I beleive Dr. Hovind is exactly where God wants him as God does not make mistakes. I wouldn’t doubt it if in the past week, the entire Escambia County Sheriff’s Department and every single prisoner there have been saved.
Instead of arguing or worrying, let us pray for all of those involved. God is in control!

Here is something to think about the federal reserve act gave power to a private bank to
print money , 1. It did not do was give power to create law to the federal reserve or irs . Congress itself dont have that power so congress can not give that power away.
2. Congress still has the power to print money so to pay off debt all congress has to do is print money.
3. the federal reserve (private bank)collected income tax by people voluntarily signing up for income tax deductions for social security benefits never was and still is not mandatory.
4. the more federal reserve money printed the higher the national debt goes
the solution; abolish the federal reserve and stop giving american money and labor to foreign bankers , congress again starts printing money then the national debt goes down
for this to happen more and more people have to do what Kent hovine is doing and I believe not signing the irs documents is more important then weather or not you pay the money into them after all the federal reserve notes belong to them so let them have what belongs to them. the problem people who are given eternal life dont want to spend any time in jail but it is written many are called to do that for a period of 10 days. and yes many might have to give up houses , wives , familys for the kingdom of heavens sake but they are promised to have much more for doing so.
what praising fool does not understand is all people using the federal reserve notes is commiting adultry with the great whore (irs and federal reserve)
the constitutional money source is congress printing money
but congress does not print money now
the private federal reserve bankers are foreign bankers
the national debt can never go no were but up with federal reserve notes
I believe that the truth is US citizens are strangers and not naturalized constitutional citizens there is much confusion on this and it seems most people dont want the truth to be known I myself dont know what it means to all people or in federal legislation
all I know is the love of money is not the kingdom of heaven
and people are decieved what kingdom they serve
If we love our Lord, we do not want to bring reproach to Him.
Kent Hovind loved money more than he loved the Lord. By obeying the law, he would not have had as much money, but the Lord would still have provided him enough to live. By paying taxes, he would have obeyed the command to “Provide things honest in the sight of all men.” (Romans 12:17). Now Kent Hovind has made himself a laughingstock in front of unbelievers.
Kent Hovind is in prison now. It seems that the government sure has the right to keep him in prison. I am sure that he will never admit to his error, but could it be that the government that has a right to jail him also had the right to make tax laws, INTERPRET THEM, and enforce them?
For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows. 1 Timothy 6:10
you will find that many different people have many different opinions and interpretations on the scripture involved along with when creation took place. there is no doubt that Hovind broke the law of the land and he must suffer the consequences.
there is nothing wrong with paying taxes, God does not say –don’t do it–. one must remember that we believers represent Christ and our actions influence those who do not believe. if it means planting seeds for Christ, then pay your taxes cheerfully whether you agree with it or not.
even secular governments must give an account before God and if they have done unjustly then God will punish them. for the christian, taxes are not the issue but how we conduct our lives that would reflect the Glory of God and if paying taxes does that then we should pay taxes. i am in favor of churches paying property tax because of the resentment the non-payment creates in non-believers.
one must not look at the right or wrong of the remittance of a tax but how it will affect their testimony, their impact on others, and how the Kingdom of God looks to others. we are not in the business of turning people off of Christ which the non-payment of taxes will and does do.
Hovind seems to follow the doctrine of jurisdiction which is taught by an independent seminary, i forget the name right now, which states that the secular government has no jurisdiction over the church. that can’t be further from the truth. maybe in content they do not but in matters of business, buildings and other terrestrial functions they do. God has granted them that right and it is not up to the church to defy the government in such matters. (if they do , then they need to do it on a level that benefits all not just a few religious people).
the selfishness that permeates this whole mess is obvious to those outside the church. all hovind thought of was himself and not the people who worked for him (and others). that is just wrong, there is more than him involved in this ‘ministry’ and if he had an ounce of caring in him, he would have done things differently.
i am sad for this black mark but hovind needs to pay for his actins.
ccherrett: AMEN!! I could’nt have said it better myself!
To those of you here who stand in judgment of Kent Hovind I’d like you to honestly answer a personal question. Just don’t tell us here if your committing this serious crime. Are you paying the Lord’s tax system in the form of a 10% tithe?
Malachi 3:8-10 “Will a man rob God? Yet ye have robbed me. But ye say, Wherein have we robbed thee? In tithes and offerings. Ye are cursed with a curse: for ye have robbed me, even this whole nation. Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse”
The storehouse is the church. How many times have you committed this crime? Do you feel guilty about it? Does some church member remind you each year that you have failed to pay the full amount? Have you been convicted of this crime yet?
Sorry to say, but this nation has robbed God of his creation. We will pay more than just taxes because of it.
Dr. Kent Hovind said he doesn’t like his income tax being used for promoting the theory of Evolution to any public schools or institutions. So, why pay? He doesn’t like being hypocrite and so did the “walked the talked”,…I guess, just guessing. I remember him in my prayers.
I believe I am beginning to understand the case for mandatory taxation being unconstitutional.
Could it be that the founding fathers of this country looked at participation in the payment of taxes as voluntary? At first this sounds odd but I know it to be the case that service in the armed forces during the revolutionary war was voluntary and even officers could resign their commission and go home at any time without penalty other than dishonor. We all know that voting is voluntary. And those who do not vote are seldom proud citizens. The founders spoke of honor regularly and this sort of dishonor was almost unimaginable to them. If paying taxes is voluntary, Kent should be released today! Perhaps he is dishonored for failing to pay taxes but criminal, perhaps not.
As far as rendering unto Caesar is concerned, the situation of Israel paying tribute to Caesar is a bit different than us paying taxes here in the US. We are citizens not subjects. Citizens in this country have responsibilities that go along with citizenship. If any of these responsibilities are against our beliefs, then we have the option to renounce our citizenship and leave the country. If we want the benefits of being a citizen than we are honor bound to fulfill the responsibilities. I firmly believe that as born again Christians who have put our trust and faith in the only begotten Son of God, our allegiance is first and foremost to our Savior Jesus Christ. Also, if as citizens we are asked to do things which violate the command of God, than we are to resist even to the point of renouncing our citizenship. What Kent did he did upfront and with honest conviction. My goodness, he is recorded on tape for over 10 years stating exactly how his ministry does and will pay taxes. It seems to me that the attitude of the IRS is that we are subjects not citizens. In my view the only honorable action to be taken by the IRS against Kent would be to attempt deportation as a direct consequence of his failing to fulfill his responsibility as a citizen. Of course, this would mean that we should be seeking to deport all those individuals who fail to vote and or fail to register for the draft.

Hi My name is Scott, I’m a Creationist who follows Jesus and who agrees to the Teachings of Answers In Genesis. I just want to say that yes this is sad but kent truly brought this upon himself, you break the law, you’re gonna pay for it. You do the crime you will most certainly do the time. Kent’s Love for Money over-rided his good judgement. He warned publicly as well as privately, why didn’t he heed his brothers warning? Maybe he truly did have conviction he was in the right, but if truth be told, he was in the wrong.
If he would have only obeyd the word of God, he would have been ok, but Kent chose to rebel againts the word of God. Here are the scriptures kent failed to heed.
- -
Romans 13:1
Everyone must submit himself to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God.
- -
- -
Matthew 22:16-21
…”Teacher,” they said, “we know you are a man of integrity and that you teach the way of God in accordance with the truth. You aren’t swayed by men, because you pay no attention to who they are. Tell us then, what is your opinion? Is it right to pay taxes to Caesar or not?”
But Jesus, knowing their evil intent, said, “You hypocrites, why are you trying to trap me? Show me the coin used for paying the tax.” They brought him a denarius, and he asked them, “Whose portrait is this? And whose inscription?”
“Caesar’s,” they replied.
Then he said to them, “Give to Caesar what is Caesar’s, and to God what is God’s.”

You see, Hovind was very anti government but what he failed to realise was that when he was breaking the law and trying to fight the government he was actually rebelling against God and breaking the law. The bible says that God is the one establishes Government and were told to submit to it. Were not told to like, love or hate the Government but we are told to submit to its authority.
Jesus also taught us to pay our taxes as seen in the scripture above.
Kent believed his home was like a church and that he didn’t get a personal income from the money he received. But that was a lie because if kent buys groceries, fills up his gas tank, buys toilet paper to wipe his butt with, guess what? kent had a personal income with the money he claims went towards his ministry.
Theres nothing wrong with getting your income from your ministry, but you simply have to pay your taxes! Just Like Jesus said to do!
The church is tax exempt because the money goes to missionary work.. on but anybody who gets a personal income from the donations they receive, must pay taxes.
My pastor gets a personal income with the church donations and thats biblical but he also pays taxes which is also biblical
Kent just failed to heed to the bible, maybe he misinterpreted it, but even so, sadly he is now paying the price.
In Christ, scott
Dear Scott you said, that you agree with “the Teachings of Answers In Genesis”. Well, this is a problem, because neither this one, nor Hovind’s “teachings” are perfectly thrue. It is sad to see that Christians identify themselfs with “teachings.” Read your Bible about this, you’l find a similar story.
I agree only with Gods word, and only the way I see it, because His Spirit gives me everything I need to be right, and to make good decisions. I believe that Gods Spirit will help Hovind too, if his wrong. May be he is, but may be not, do you know for sure? Well, I dont think so.
Whether or not you agree with Kent Hovind’s approach to paying taxes, I firmly believe that these events are of God’s doing. I believe God allowed Kent to get into this situation so that people who would never hear of the creation/evolution controversy will tune into this and become aware of it. The creation/evolution issue runs under the radar of today’s media, and Kent’s conviction give expose to it, at least in the Florida area.
I agree with Kent’s ministry. He is a bit radical in his approach, but sometimes that’s what it takes to get exposure. I hope that people who believe in the literal Bible events of Genesis 1-11 will rise up and take Kent’s place. I pray that hundreds, even thousands of Christians will create their own presentations on Creation, the flood, Noah’s Ark, dinosaurs, etc. and present to their small group Bible studies, then their churches, and wherever they can get an audience.
These events have strange parallels to the early days of the church. When people in society in those days took notice of Christians dying for their faith, it made them think of how great something would be to cause a person to die for it. In this case, a bad event in the life of someone radical in their Christian beliefs is making Christians think about their response to this. Is God asking them to rise up and follow a similar path to proclaim God’s creation? If many continue the work of creation evangelism, society will start to look at Creation as a valid concept to consider, and not view it as musings of a shamed preacher from Pensacola, Florida like the scandalous TV evangelists of a couple of decades ago.
The harvest is ripe, but there are few laborers. Let us change that.
“Dr. Hovind” i challenge any of you who refer to Kent as a “dr” to read his thesis paper from patriot bible university.
It’s painful.

Hi! I just wanted to say that my family and I, on the other side of the world from you in Thailand, are praying for you and greatly admire the work you are doing for the Lord. If we suffer, we shall also reign with Him. I also wanted you to know that your seminars are reaching many over here and have been a great blessing. I admire you for speaking the truth, even though you knew it could/would get you in trouble with the world. As Jesus said, The servant is not greater than His lord. If they have persecuted Me, they will also persecute you. If ye were of the world, the world would love its own, but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you. Rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christs sufferings. For when His glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy!
God bless you and keep you strong in His love!
