Subject: Re: Give Me Wisdom!
kh: God, I don’t understand. You told your children to seek after wisdom, didn’t You (James 1:5)?
God: Yes, son. Wisdom is the principal thing. Get wisdom (Proverbs 4:7).
kh: Yet Your Word says, “In much wisdom is much grief and he that increaseth knowledge increaseth sorrow” (Ecclesiastes 1:18). I’ve asked You for wisdom many times, Lord.
God: Yes, son, so far you’ve asked me 181,046 times or about twelve times a day since you got saved. You do ask for wisdom a lot, son. What is the problem? I’ve given it to you each time.
kh: The more I learn about what is happening in the world, the more sorrow I have. Solomon was right, God. Why do you tell us to ask for wisdom (James 1:5) knowing it will bring sorrow?
God: I lived on earth for thirty-three and a half years as a man, son. I was a man of sorrows and acquainted with grief (Isaiah 53:3). I knew everything, even what people were thinking (Matthew 9:4; 12:15). When the rich young ruler rejected me, both he and I were sorrowful (Luke 18:23). I completely understand!
kh: But, Lord, world events are frightening! Christians are being killed and tortured by the thousands every year, Lord. The “Voice of the Martyrs” reports that more Christians have died in the last hundred years than died in the previous 1,900 years. This knowledge gives me great grief!
God: It is true, son. Evil men and seducers are waxing worse and worse (II Timothy 3:13) just as I foretold. These are the birth pangs, son. This age is coming to a close. I will be setting up my kingdom soon (Isaiah 65:17; II Peter 3:13; Revelation 21:1)!
Your sorrow is well founded but only short term. You need new glasses, son. You are nearsighted.
kh: But Solomon was the wisest man ever and he said wisdom causes grief.
God: Son, think about it. What is the theme of Ecclesiastes?
kh: It is about man’s view of the world “under the sun.” From man’s perspective, life is vanity.
God: That’s right, son. From man’s perspective (under the sun), wisdom causes grief. I don’t live under the sun. The sun won’t even be needed in My new kingdom (Revelation 21:23). Solomon was right that wisdom “under the sun” brings grief, but My wisdom is from above. Go ahead and seek My wisdom, son. If your treasures are on earth, wisdom will bring sorrow; but if you set your affections on things above (Colossians 3:2), my wisdom will bring great joy.
It is true that bad times are coming soon, but I have everything under control. Evil men are planning a one-world government, but I’m laughing at the whole thing, son (Psalms 2:1-3). Keep praying for My kingdom to come (Matthew 6:10). Serve Me with gladness (Psalms 100:2). I’ll fix everything one day soon.
kh: Thanks, God. I love you.
God: I love you too, son. More than you can know.
