Action Alert!
We recently were made aware of a great opportunity to help improve our corrections system, by urging the U.S. Sentencing Commission to adopt two measures currently under consideration. The adoption of Sections 1B1.14 and 1B1.15 into the Sentencing Guidelines would provide inmates an opportunity to gain better merit for good behavior as well as opportunities to reduce their sentence through special rehabilitation programs. The prison population in America is growing at an alarming rate, and most federal inmates are non-violent offenders. We ask you to join with us in contacting the U.S. Sentencing Commission to urge them to adopt the proposal of FedCURE’s public comment of September 7, 2008 (click here to view this comment and the full wording of the 1B1.14 and 1B1.15), which calls for adoption of these two additions to the Sentencing Guidelines. We believe this would provide an opportunity for improving our federal corrections system, and would give non-violent offenders the opportunity for rehabilitation and reduced sentences upon demonstration of their good behavior.

To the Honorable Ricardo H. Hinojosa, Chairman:
I strongly urge the Commission to adopt the proposed amendments submitted to the Commission on September 7, 2008, to amend the sentencing guidelines to include Sections 1B1.14 and 1B1.15, as set forth in the September 7, 2008 recommendation. I fully support the public comment of FedCURE and the US Freedom Foundation for all the reasons enumerated therein.
Respectfully,
