Read it Carefully, Mr. Atheist

Atheist: Hey Hovind! You are a fool! I can’t understand why you would believe the Bible. It’s full of contradictions.

KH: Like what?

Atheist: All right. Look at I Kings 4:26, “Solomon had forty thousand stalls of horses for his chariots.”

KH: That is correct. What’s the problem?

Atheist: Now look at the same story in II Chron. 9:25 where it says, “Solomon had four thousand stalls for horses and chariots.” That’s a clear contradiction if I ever saw one.

KH: Both verses are exactly correct. There is no contradiction

Atheist: How can you say that?! 4,000 does not equal 40,000. Don’t you know math?

KH: Actually I do. I taught Algebra, Geometry, and Trigonometry for 15 years. I can also read English pretty well. Can you?

Atheist: Of course! That’s why I say it’s a contradiction.

KH: Well, let’s read them again carefully. Maybe you will see the answer in the English instead of the math. Does I Kings 4:26 tell us how many chariots he had?

Atheist: No, it says he had 40,000 stalls of horses for his chariots. It only tells us how many horses, not how many chariots.

KH: Very good! Now look at II Chron. 9:25. Read it carefully. What were the 4,000 stalls for?

Atheist: Ah, they were for horses and chariots.

KH: Right. There were 4,000 stalls for horses and chariots while the 40,000 mentioned in Kings were just for horses. They had 10 horses for each chariot in case they got a flat tire. They also had 10 men for each chariot. You can see that by comparing II Sam. 8:4 and I Chron. 18:4. Be sure to use a KJV or you may find a real contradiction. The horses and the men can get wounded, tired or killed. The chariot does not get tired. They could quickly swap out men or horses and keep the chariot in the battle. There is no contradiction. These verses supplement each other.

Atheist: That one makes sense now, but there are lots more.

KH: Before we get into those, may I ask you one question?

Atheist: Sure, go ahead.

KH: If I answer them all, will you believe the Bible and get saved?

Atheist: No way! My whole lifestyle would have to change! I hate that book and the God it talks about.

KH: I though so. This is a Proverbs 14:7 moment. I need to go now. Goodbye.

    Dear Sis Jo,
The joy of our living lord Jesus will remain your strength. I pray the Lord will grant you all needed grace in all you’re passing through for His name’s sake. It is well in Jesus name.

    Hi Kent,

Great post and excellent example of why an evidential based argument doesn’t work with atheists. For a good read on a biblical approach to apologetics, have a look at Dr. Jason Lisle’s new book “The Ultimate Proof of Creation”

As always, thinking of you and praying for release.

    take care,

    br. Kent,
I hope someone at CSE could print this page off for you to read
    http://lisat2.multiply.com/journal/item/370/The_Harbinger_of_the_Sycamore_Tree_on_9-11
the youtube video is short and very sobering
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JW6roFN7NAE

I have heard that there is a TEA party protester T-shirt getting around “I am not your ATM”; I wish it could make a difference, but I suspect the writing is on that wall [street], the wheels turning…..

How long [many times] did the church just “put up with” unacceptable levels of sin? harbouring sin in the capital, or sin in the church, or sin in their children?
remember Moses had to separate himself, and those that would stand with him, so that purging judgements could run thru the camp.

that’s the idea of “hand them over”. let them know the transgression. one witness, two witnesses [or three], [proper notices to the parties concerned], publish the matter to the church, and then hand them over.

by letting people know their offense you might just be saving them. [their Souls - not their flesh]. Satan having hold of their flesh might cause them to return!

Jesus’ Word, “let no man put asunder”, is, to the very best of my knowledge, real and current, valid, God Given Law! it would change any nation to the core! trials/ prison/ jurisprudence/ debt repayment.
And if I am not mistaken Satan will witness to this, even on behalf of a little prayerful church.

    but Jesus gave a process.

    cheers from Australia

    Well done Eric.

Mr. Hovind….. be very proud of your son.

    Kent,
I enjoy reading a lot of things that you write about especially when you take a stand for God’s perfect and pure word written to the English speaking people, the KJV. If I had the money, I would get you the book entitled, “The Book of Bible Problems”, written by Gerardus D. Bouw, Ph.D. It is excellent. He and Dr. Gail Riplinger are some of my favorite “defenders” of the pure word of God. You are still in my prayers and God is still on the throne. Nobody is going to knock him off of it either.

  9. Ekkman says:

    Hey Kent,
I forgot to say that it could become a Prov. 14:12 moment for the “atheist” even though I do not believe in atheists. In reality, they do not exist. They will deny God with their lifestyles even though they know that there is a God but they don’t want anything to do with him. Hence, there is no God to them at this moment of time. Things change from day to day though. God doesn’t “believe” in atheists since he put it within all to know that there is a God. Let God be true and every man a liar. Also to know that there is a God and to know God is two totally different positions in life.

  11. ronpaulr3VOLution says:

PRAISE GOD FOR THE KING JAMES BIBLE!!! I know many have turned this into a divisive issue, but your stand on the KJV is truly a genuine belief of love and concern. I praise God that this ministry has not strayed from the KJV as the solid foundation of their whole ministry. Thank you for your genuine concern and showing the errors in those other versions, and how the KJV is truly the only English translation that is entirely without error and perfectly preserved. No contradictions in the KJV – just God’s whole, pure, perfect, inerrant, inspired, holy Word.

  12. for Jesus' name: Phillip-George (c)1974 says:

Br. Kent, I’ve just been reading a little one called “Why Us” by Dr.James Le Fanu [Physician]. It’s in much the same vein as Michael Denton’s “Evolution: a theory in crisis”. Written by an agnostic, or undeclared theist, it highlights the total lack of evidence for macro-evolution. But along the way it throws in some useful social commentary.

I thought you’d enjoy this quote:

p.260 “This renewed sympathy with religion in keeping alight the flame of “rational faith” against the rising tide of secularism would also, it might be anticipated, heal that rupture in Western civilisation between its present and its overwhelmingly Christian past, whose beliefs and traditions are an expression of that assumption, common to all the major religions, of their being ‘more than can be known’”

    unquote.

I love it when an agnostic can grasp a fact. The reality is an “OVERWHELMINGLY CHRISTIAN” history. We don’t live in the land of Buddhists, Animists, Shintoism, or Hinduism, this is not an Islamic society. While people have had their “right” to make fools of themselves largely protected the Christian community should not have consented to, nor be seen to consent to this being at their own personal expense. The destruction of families, or the institution of marriage per se, provides the starkest possible relief for comparison.

The law was hijacked – arguably by a ship of fools. Is not the book of Revelation largely the declared opportunity or necessary inevitability by which the fool reaps of their own harvest. The usury basis fiat currency money tree, the relativism education tree, the materialistic limitation of science, and the vacuous rhetoric of secular ethics amplified. They are getting what they have sown.

When Jesus said in the desert Get behind me Satan, was He simply commanding the devil to fall into line in support of God’s program? Who can stand against God – only a fool could even suffer the delusion of it…….

[sorry if I write too often, it was the hope of touching the imaginations of a few unsaved...........]

God does not believe in atheists, therefore atheists don’t exist:)
I said to a friend once “I hear you’ve given up atheism”. “Yes” he said, “there’s no future in it.”

  15. Tim says:

    Hi

You are a really well spoken debater, I just watch you debating Ross and well you won hands down.

Recently I read about something you might appreciate. I’ll just copy paste straight from wikipedia.

“The Woodpecker Finch, Camarhynchus pallidus, is one of the so-called Darwin’s finches. First described by Charles Darwin on the Galapagos Islands, it is a unique species which uses a twig, stick, or cactus spine as a tool. The tool is used as compensation for its short tongue. The finch manipulates the tool to dislodge invertebrate prey such as grubs from trees. The same tool can be used many times on many different trees. Scientists have observed that the finches may shorten the stick or spine to make it more manageable. The finches may also try various sticks or spines at one site before finding just the appropriate one that can reach and extract the prey item. During the dry season, woodpecker finches use tools during half their foraging time, using these tools to acquire up to 50% of their prey. This means they obtain even more food via tool use than chimpanzees, the most proficient non-human primate tool users.

Woodpecker Finches occur widely in the Galapagos Islands, from sea level to high elevations.”

    Awesome!!!!

Thank you for what you do
